中国贵州茅台镇，山川秀丽，人杰地灵，酿造美酒的历史源远流长。早在西汉时期，这里出产的“枸酱酒”就被汉武帝以“甘美之”称赞。唐宋元明清历代，茅台酒一直为酒中佳酿，享誉相邻各省。
China's Guizhou Maotai Town, with its picturesque mountains and rivers and a land blessed with outstanding people, has a long history of brewing fine wine. As early as the Western Han Dynasty, the "Goujiang Wine" produced here was praised by Emperor Wu of Han as "delicious and sweet." Throughout the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Maotai wine remained a premium choice among wines, enjoying a reputation across neighboring provinces.
十九世纪初，茅台镇贫苦青年王振发，以勤劳聪慧的禀赋，为当地张姓商人招婿入赘。逐渐发展成为一方巨富。
In the early 19th century, Wang Zhenfa, a poor young man from Maotai Town, became a wealthy man through his diligence and intelligence, marrying into a local merchant family surnamed Zhang.
清朝末年，王振发嫡孙王泽履，在祖传酒坊“天和号”的基础上，增资扩股，创立“荣和
酒坊”，酿制出远近闻名的“茅台烧”。1915年，王家荣和酒坊的“王茅”和华家的成义酒坊的“华茅”，被一同选送在美国旧金山举办的“巴拿马万国博览
会”，荣获金奖。茅台酒一举成为世界名酒，声名远播。
In the late Qing Dynasty, Wang Zelü, the legitimate grandson of Wang Zhenfa, expanded the family-owned Tianhe Distillery by increasing capital and establishing Ronghe Distillery. This distillery produced the renowned Moutai liquor. In 1915, the "Wangmou" (also translated as "WongMou") from Wang's Ronghe Distillery and the "Huamao" from Hua's Chengyi Distillery were jointly exhibited at the Panama International Exposition in San Francisco, USA, where they won gold medals. This achievement catapulted Maotai liquor to global fame, making it a world-renowned brand with widespread acclaim.
1935年，中央红军三渡茅台，王家用最好的茅台酒慰问毛泽东、周恩来、朱德、刘少奇、邓小平等老一辈无产阶级革命家和红军将士，在当时缺医少药情况下，用茅台酒来擦洗、疗伤，疗效显著。解放后周总理曾说：“红军长征的胜利，也有茅台酒的一大功劳。”
In 1935, the Central Red Army made three crossings of Maotai River. The Wang family used their finest Maotai liquor to comfort veteran proletarian revolutionaries and Red Army soldiers including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, and Deng Xiaoping. At a time when medical supplies were scarce, they applied Maotai to cleanse and treat wounds, achieving remarkable therapeutic effects. After the liberation, Premier Zhou Enlai once remarked: "The victory of the Red Army's Long March also owes much to Moutai liquor."
1951年，王家“荣和酒坊”、华家“成义酒坊”、赖家“恒兴烧坊”被公私合营改造成国营贵州茅台酒厂。王家酿酒的传奇经历渐渐被历史的迷雾层层掩埋。
In 1951, the Wang family's Ronghe Winery, the Hua family's Chengyi Winery, and the Lai family's Hengxing Distillery were transformed into the state-owned Guizhou Maotai Distillery through a public-private partnership. The legendary history of the Wang family's winemaking was gradually buried under the fog of history.
改革开放后，王泽履嫡孙王宗德，秉承诚实宽厚的家风，用先辈口传身授的手工工艺、传统方法和家传的制曲秘方，采用茅台河谷的本地红高粱，取清澈的赤水河河水，酿制出纯正原始风味的美酒佳酿，传世美酒“王茅”终于拂去历史的尘埃，再续经典。
After the reform and opening-up, Wang Zongde, the direct grandson of Wang Zeli, upheld the family ethos of honesty and generosity. Drawing on ancestral oral traditions, traditional craftsmanship, and family-secret fermentation techniques, he crafted premium liquor using local red sorghum from Maotai River Valley and crystal-clear water from the Chishui River. The time-honored "Wangmao" liquor has finally shed its historical dust and reignited its legendary status.
2025年，“王茅”传人在香港注册“非遗美”及“WONGMOU”商标，重续“王茅”辉煌。
In 2025, the Wangmou heritage bearers registered the trademarks 'Intangible Cultural Heritage Beauty' and 'WONGMOU' in Hong Kong, reviving the brand's legacy.
